In this article the author sheds light on the daily struggles of asian manicurists. The author obvisously has a strong emotional attachment towards this topic. Word choice the author decides to use shows this attachment by describing the struggles of Asian manicurist as it being racially charged and it paying very little, often less than minimum-wage. The author appeals to ethos by portraying his argument with a short film created by Joey Alan called "Joy Joy Nails". It became an expose about working conditions and nail salons. The author has a sincere an objective tone throughout the article. The author's purpose of this article was to put a spotlight on the struggles of being an Asian manicurist. The author's other purpose can also be to spread awareness of the short film “Joy Joy Nails” that shares the same memo and argument that the author is trying to tell.
